Laser Therapy

Whether you’re concerned about your pet being in pain after a surgery or due to arthritis, Dublin Veterinary Hospital can offer an additional layer of relief to their pain control regimen. Laser therapy for dogs and cats is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that soothes inflammation and pain from the inside out. It also helps injured skin and muscle tissue heal faster. We can apply laser treatments to a wide variety of health conditions to pets of virtually any age and size.

What Is Laser Therapy?

Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy occurs when a dose of light energy reaches target tissue and results in decreased inflammation, decreased pain, and accelerated healing. This doctor-prescribed, technician-driven modality effectively treats a wide variety of conditions including pre-surgical, post-surgical, acute, and chronic disease states.

Why Treat with Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy provides you with a versatile tool that is excellent to be used on hard-to-treat-conditions where pain and inflammation are present.

Treatments are non-invasive, drug and surgery-free and can be administered in 1-10 minutes.

The most common recommended uses of laser therapy are to facilitate wound healing, reduce inflammation, and treat musculoskeletal pain. However, proponents of laser therapy often suggest this tool can be used to treat many other medical conditions. Lasers have been promoted for specific clinical problems, such as allergic skin disease, gingivitis, bacterial and viral infections.

Petey's Success Story

Petey presented to us in February to start his laser therapy journey. Petey had myelopathy of his C1-C5 cervical vertebrae's and a possible disc herniation. Basically, his neck was hurting pretty badly! He had trouble moving around even with steroids and pain medicine. After starting weekly laser treatments, Petey began to show great improvement. Before treatment, he would walk stiffly and hesitate to even try to turn his head. Upon completing his 6th treatment, Petey was taking stairs and running around the pool. We are so happy to be able to feature Petey as a success story! This little guy still has the moves, even at 11 years young. Please reach out to one of our knowledgeable staff members to learn more about what laser therapy can do for your furry friend.
